Plushie Pout-Pout

One of my children’s (and my) favorite picture books is The Pout-pout Fish by Deborah Diesen.  The book has a wonderful rhyme scheme, and the illustrations are fabulous.  Having studied marine science, I love all the little worms and other invertebrates that populate the book.  For Christmas this year I decided to give the book to the son of a friend of mine from graduate school.  I looked all over for a stuffed animal to give with the book, but couldn’t find one, so I made one.  This is my first attempt to create a stuffed animal pattern, and I think it was rather successful.  My sewing machine finally ground to a halt (It’s a 1964 Montgomery Ward… it has done more than it’s service), so the fish is hand sewn.  I didn’t get a very good picture of the front of the fish.

    1. Thanks! We love the book. Many a of my daughter’s pouting fits have been headed off by the threat to “put a kiss-kiss on the pout-pout”. Even at a big, grown-up, eight years old that wins a smile.
