{"id":878,"date":"2012-05-19T10:34:49","date_gmt":"2012-05-19T14:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/?p=878"},"modified":"2012-05-15T10:57:46","modified_gmt":"2012-05-15T14:57:46","slug":"stupid-simple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/stupid-simple\/","title":{"rendered":"Stupid Simple"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Image32-e1337092920784.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-882\" title=\"Image32\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Image32-e1337092994522-797x1024.jpg?resize=797%2C1024&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"797\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Image32-e1337092994522.jpg?resize=797%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 797w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Image32-e1337092994522.jpg?resize=233%2C300&amp;ssl=1 233w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/Image32-e1337092994522.jpg?w=1276&amp;ssl=1 1276w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 797px) 100vw, 797px\" \/><\/a>Every once in a while I run across a craft that is both stupid simple and very lovely.\u00a0 I am always torn when I have found such a craft.\u00a0 They are the perfect sort of thing to give as gifts, but if I brag about how easy they are, or worse, post a tutorial, then I am afraid that people who receive these as gifts will feel slighted upon receiving them.\u00a0 After much debate, I have opted to go ahead and share how easy these are and hope that anyone who in future receives one will understand that it is the beauty rather than the ease of creation which prompts the giving.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/round.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-880\" title=\"round\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/round.jpg?resize=700%2C868&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"868\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/round.jpg?w=700&amp;ssl=1 700w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/round.jpg?resize=241%2C300&amp;ssl=1 241w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a>To make these, you first need to make a trip to your local craft store or better yet, thrift store.\u00a0 All the thrift stores in this area have a profusion of cheap glass containers in various sizes and shapes.\u00a0 They are frequently only slightly cheaper than at the craft store, but why buy new?\u00a0 Take regular acrylic craft paint (for these I used some with metallic finish) in two contrasting colors, and pour some into the bottom of your glass container.\u00a0 Now swirl to cover.\u00a0 If you find that you are having difficulty achieving coverage, add a little more paint.\u00a0 Now turn upside down in a disposable container to drain.\u00a0 If you can find a way of suspending the piece, it will work better as you won&#8217;t have to clean up the rim when you&#8217;re done.\u00a0 If my instructions don&#8217;t make sense to you, there is a wonderful tutorial at <a href=\"http:\/\/fabyoubliss.com\/2012\/01\/09\/painted-glass-with-a-marbled-look\/\">fabyoubliss.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some quick tips from experience:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You may not see a lot of marbleizing at first.\u00a0 Be patient, the paints will mix and &#8220;feather&#8221;
