{"id":774,"date":"2012-03-11T08:38:40","date_gmt":"2012-03-11T12:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/?p=774"},"modified":"2016-01-29T13:06:02","modified_gmt":"2016-01-29T18:06:02","slug":"ratta-tat-tat-part-i","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/ratta-tat-tat-part-i\/","title":{"rendered":"Ratta Tat Tat (Part I)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the passion for this week, (or actually two weeks ago, since I am running a few weeks behind in posting) is tatting.\u00a0 Inspired by the pattern for the paper roses that I posted around Valentine&#8217;s Day, I decided to try a tatting a rose.<\/p>\n<p>Tatting, by the way is a series of very tiny half-hitch knots done in a series of chains and rings.\u00a0 It is related to both netting and macrame.<\/p>\n<p>Any way, I thought that it could easily be done in a manner similar to the paper rose and I set about looking for a pattern.\u00a0 There are several very nice ones out there, but I was not completely satisfied, so I tried my hand at making my own.\u00a0 But that was fairly complicated and since I hadn&#8217;t picked up my tatting shuttle in about 3 years, I decided to start with a simple pattern to get my skills back up to speed.\u00a0 I decided to try making some earrings for my step-mother, who never feels completely dressed without a pair of earrings.\u00a0 Now, to actually get them in the mail&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tattedearings1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-776 aligncenter\" title=\"tattedearings\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tattedearings1.jpg?resize=600%2C450&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tattedearings1.jpg?w=600&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tattedearings1.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Oh, the pattern for this is<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>R 3p3p3<\/li>\n<li>Ch 3p2p2p3<\/li>\n<li>R 3j3p3<\/li>\n<li>Repeat steps 2 and 3 five more times.\u00a0 Tie off the final chain to the first ring.<\/li>\n<li>use the starting and ending thread to tie the piece to the earring loop.\u00a0 Secure with a drop of superglue and trim the knot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Abbreviations R=ring, ch=chain, p=picot (a small gap the the knots that creates a loop), j=join (bringing the thread through a picot on the previous chain)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the passion for this week, (or actually two weeks ago, since I am running a few weeks behind in posting) is tatting.\u00a0 Inspired by the pattern for the paper roses that I posted around Valentine&#8217;s Day, I decided to try a tatting a rose.
