I love a good art yarn. It is pure creative expression. The problem is that one of the reasons I love fiber arts is because I prefer my art to be useful. Creating beautiful things that also have a purpose is typically what motivates me most. These two priorities are frequently in conflict because I always struggle with what to do with art yarns. They are complex creations in their own right, so they rarely work in knitting where their structure becomes completely obscured. As an accent piece in weaving, they work well, but they take so little that a skein can sit around for years and then I feel bad about creating a new one before I have finished off the old. Right now I have two art yarns in my stash. Here are some in process images and some of the things I have done with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
