<a title=\"The Problem with Knitting\" href=\"Permalink: https:\/\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/the-problem-with-knitting\">&#8220;The Problem with Knitting&#8221;<\/a>, I mentioned my very first attempt at a cowl or smoke ring.\u00a0 It was made with Noro yarn.\u00a0 Beautiful colors, but anyone who has worked with Noro knows that it&#8217;s texture leaves something to be desired.\u00a0 Since both of my new cowls are working out quite well this winter, I decided to pull apart that first smoke ring and find something else to do with that beautiful Noro.\u00a0 I was admiring some beautiful West African Baskets at Costco this Christmas, made out of recycled materials, when it hit me.\u00a0 There <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/norobasket2.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1078\" title=\"norobasket2\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/norobasket2.jpg?resize=300%2C235&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/norobasket2.jpg?resize=300%2C235&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/exhaliastudios.com\/squirrel\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/norobasket2.jpg?w=700&amp;ssl=1 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>was no reason I couldn&#8217;t make that style of basket with yarn.\u00a0 And no one really cares if a bowl is soft to the touch, so the Noro was a great choice.\u00a0 I made two of these and gave them both away for Christmas.\u00a0 I have since made another, this time using a novelty home spun that I had dyed when I was practicing dying techniques.\u00a0 This project is a great stash-buster, as a 50 gram skein makes a nice sized bowl.\u00a0 I am going to be teaching a class on how to make these soon.\u00a0 Hopefully I&#8217;ll be motivated enough to create a tutorial.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<a
