One of my children’s (and my) favorite picture books is The Pout-pout Fish<\/a> by Deborah Diesen.\u00a0 The book has a wonderful rhyme scheme, and the illustrations are fabulous.\u00a0 Having studied marine science, I love all the little worms and other invertebrates that populate the book.\u00a0 For Christmas this year I decided to give the book to the son of a friend of mine from graduate school.\u00a0 I looked all over for a stuffed animal to give with the book, but couldn’t find one, so I made one.\u00a0 This is my first attempt to create a stuffed animal pattern, and I think it was rather successful.\u00a0 My sewing machine finally ground to a halt (It’s a 1964 Montgomery Ward… it has done more than it’s service), so the fish is hand sewn.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a>I didn’t get a very good picture of the front of the fish.<\/p>\n
