Slow Week

My son and I came down with a doozy of a cold on Tuesday, so yesterday was pretty much a wash, and not much is happening today as I recover and try to catch up on house work. Still, crafting is never completely still. I’ve cast on yarn (store bought I’m ashamed to say) for […]

Cheese Experiment

In my former life, back when the government had money to spend on research, I was a scientist. A geneticist and a microbiologist to be exact. That tendency towards microbiology is strongly represented in my crafts as well, i.e. baking, brewing and cheese making. I bring a love of experimentation to crafting, and cooking lends […]

And Now For Something Completely Different…

So, I’m not kidding about the name of my blog.  When it comes to crafting, I have the attention span of a dog when a squirrel runs by.  I was thinking about that the other day as my basket making obsession had been replaced with a fever to make lamp shades.  More about that later.  […]

Fall came in with a vengeance over the weekend, and all this cooler weather has me thinking pumpkins, and pumpkins means pumpkin bread.  This was a holiday tradition in my house, and Christmas time sees a lot of baking.  Since I’m able to make it whenever I wish now, I do.  This time, my three-year-old […]

Pickled Tomatos

An embarrassment of riches this summer in the form of my very first attempt at growing tomatoes, caused me to have to search out new and creative uses for grape tomatoes. Fresh off of pickling the few measly cucumbers that I got off of the vines before they withered prematurely, (Still haven’t figured that one out) I decided […]

My First Etsy Sale!

Wheeeeee! I made my first Etsy sale. My plarn lace bag, will be leaving home on Monday. Such a sad, proud day. Ok, so I’m not even making half minimum wage on the hours I put into it, but at least my material cost wasn’t high. Setting a price for things is definitely the hardest part about selling your handiwork.

Baking Day

Has anyone else noticed how expensive healthy bread has gotten at the grocery store? Or how much like cardboard they taste? I’m not sure if quality is really deteriorating, or if I’ve just gotten so used to home baked bread that store bread suffers by comparison. My quest for a good sandwich loaf intensified recently. […]
