Diorama

Sometimes an idea comes into your head so strongly that you can’t rest until you’ve followed it through.  Sometimes the results are amazing, and sometimes not so much, but you can’t stop in the middle.  That happened to me this week.

I have been working my tail off recently.  I am currently teaching 4 classes (I’m a community college professor), which is a pretty full load since one of them is a new lecture class.  Then an opportunity came up to take a class that would certify me to teach online classes at my school.  It’s free, and won’t come up again until next semester, so I jumped on it.  The net result is that I am swamped.  As I told my husband, I’m in crafting withdrawal. Then I saw this:

I have always been fascinated with paper models and dioramas, so I decided to make one of my own.  I chose one of my favorite medieval images.

A few Paint Shop tweaks and scissors and glue later:

It was surprisingly difficult to do justice to it in photos, but I am pretty pleased with it, though if I was going to do it again, I’d paint in their dresses where the table covered it in the original picture.

  1. I remember when you used to make little paper crap all the time when you were a kid. This is much better. 🙂 Plus I don’t have to clean up the remains.

    Beautiful!
