There is something about the end of the semester when everything gets very hectic, that seems to induce in me an urge to binge. Maybe my crafting is trying to keep up with my eating at this time of year. 🙂 But it seems to evaporate as soon as the semester is over and I have some time to indulge in my crafts… Oh well, it’s always nice while it lasts. So this week I have been bouncing around a great deal. I’ve spent some time designing Christmas presents, which of course I can’t post here, and I’ve been working on a new basket which is not ready yet, but most of my time has been devoted to clay. Polymer clay has been of occasional interest to me, but I’m not a great sculptor. Recently I’ve been introduced to polymer clay millefori and caning. I have also discovered that my guest bathroom is a perfect light box. It’s very nearly the only room in my house with a south facing window and the walls are mostly white, alleviating the need for a bounce board.
I need to work on smoothing out the beads before baking, you can definitely see a thumbprint on the front two. As long as I had the clay out I thought I would try a few roses. I learned to make these in icing when I worked as a cake decorator, and clay is definitely easier.
And since I’ve been spending a lot of time in craft stores, I had to pick up some more wire… And these clasps were the result of that…
There has been much, much more, but due problems closing the battery compartment of my camera, I am spending as much time fighting my camera as taking pictures. I’ll post back later when I’ve finished my basket.
